New Family Member

Neko
About 3 weeks ago, we heard a meow coming from out in the ornamental grasses. We investigated but couldn’t find anything. A week after that my husband and daughter were doing yard work and trimming down the plants for the winter. The noise and confusion scared the cat out into the open.

My husband, the cat-hater, told my daughter, the cat-lover, if she could catch the cat, we’d keep him. Well, last Monday, she did just that. Poor cat is declawed and already has a battle scar or two. With winter coming on, we got him in the nick of time. So, Tuesday it was off to the vet with said cat, he was wormed, blood tested, immunized, de-flead, and had his ears swabbed to get rid of mites. My bank account is much smaller, but we now have a new family member.

My daughter has named him William, my husband has named him Neko. We are going to have one very confused cat if they can’t sort it out between them.

Red Signet Press
Behind the Scenes

A new children’s book publishing company works with colleges and universities to offer America’s talented children’s illustrators and authors their first opportunity to be published.

I wish they’d been around when I gradutaed from SVA in 1998. I did see one SVA alumnis on their list, though.

I wish this new publisher the best of luck!

Sugar Frosted Goodness!

Sugar Frosted Goodness!

Couldn’t sleep again. It’s 3:30 am and while I could “do” a lot of things, I hestitate to do nearly any of them since turning on lights or machinery might wake my daughter who’s bedroom is on the same level as my studio. I want a bigger house! Or at least one where the bedrooms are separated from the living space.

So being awake at this wee hour of the morning, I started surfing around the ‘net and found this member blog for artist types. Some very wonderful artwork to be seen.
