I am so thankful to have you all here. As an artist and a writer, I spend most of my time alone with nobody to talk to but the cats. They may talk back but I have no clue what the various forms of meow mean, so conversations tend to be rather one-sided. They are also no good for bouncing ideas off.
This year has been especially solitary because of my medical snafu in January. It has kept me house bound much of the year and not out-and-about at festivals and events throughout the country like most summers. I have put the time to good use. There are several new books in the works. I cannot talk about them yet, but soon I will tell you all the details. I can say that one is a book for adults. It is a Pagan parenting book unlike any other out in the market so far.
Even though I still have some healing left to do, I am back on the road beginning with Labor Day Weekend. If you are in the area, please come out and see me, I’d love to meet you if I haven’t already and renew our acquaintance if we have already met.
Here is my schedule through October:

This month’s FREE coloring page is the “Q” of the ABCs of Lesser Known Goddesses. Quinoa-Mama is a grain Goddess from Peru. During the harvest of the quinoa crop, the leaves of the plant are collected and made into a “corn-dolly” which is dressed in traditional Peruvian costume. The doll is saved until the following year when it is burned to ensure a bountiful crop and harvest.
Q was a tough one. There just aren’t that many Goddesses whose name starts with a Q. I eat quinoa on occasion, so I was excited to find there is a Goddess just for this small and tasty grain.
Have your children gone back to school yet? Did you know that the publisher has free teaching guides for each of my books on their web site? If you are friendly with your school librarian or even the local public librarian, why not suggest they add some of my books to their collection. Libraries across the country have. Help spread the word.

I am so excited I can barely breath.
I just found out my book “An Ordinary Girl, A Magical Child,” is a finalist in the 2009 COVR Visionary Awards.
All finalists and winners will be announced up on stage on June 27, 2009 in Denver Colorado during the INATS Banquet. Winners will be announced at the banquet. SQUEEEEEEEEEEE…..
I’ve been invited to be there to accept my award. I wish Denver was closer!
Oh my gosh! I can’t breath!
Hello Lyon,
I got the shipment today…and WOW! Fabulous. Did I mention “wow”?
The set of three books arrived today. Beautifully written, enchantingly
illustrated…with gentle messages for all Pagani children.
I’m very pleased.
Warm regards,

May 19th, 2009 >> About Lyon, Books, Finished, Illustration, Tour/Appearance
I am finally moving back into the swing of things. Please join the Magical Child News mailing list for a brand new coloring page. Our ‘N’ addition to the Lesser Known Goddesses is the Goddess Nike. A winged Goddess, she plays a lyre at hero’s and winners celebrations.
This coming weekend, Memorial Day, I will be returning to Wytchehaven in beautiful Salem, AR. I am very excited to be going back to this private land. The Strawberry River and the howling of coyotes in the evening stirs something deep inside me. And this time, Mama Dragon, my co-author Trudy Herring, will be making an appearance there as well. We will have great fun telling stories of coyote, raven, crow and rabbit to all the kids, big and little!
I want to thank any of you who made a purchase to help me pay off some of my medical expenses. Every little bit helps. I still have several thousand dollars yet to pay off, so if you were planning on making a purchase for yourself or a favorite little one, not only will you be getting a quality Pagan kid’s book, but brownie points as well. Remember, put the coupon code into the shopping cart on check out to get a discount! http://magicalchildbooks.com
In other news, Rabbit’s Song received a 5-star review from the Midwest Book Review. A major review publication, MBR is extremely hard to get into. We were beyond thrilled when we heard the news. To read the review in its entirety, go to either the amazon or B&N page of Rabbit’s Song and scroll down to the reviews. You might even take a moment to add your own review of any of our books. It’s easy to do and helps spread the word.
Have a wonderful holiday weekend! Be careful to not get too much sun and I’ll see you next month!
Blessings,
Lyon
As many of you know, I was severely injured in January. I am doing much better now and am up and about, but I still have a long way to go until I am back to 100%. Because of this I have had to cancel most of my Spring appearances for the year. I am also not actively booking any events until the 2009/2010 school year begins in the fall.
This has effectively left me with no way to promote my newest book, “Rabbit’s Song” by SJ Tucker and Trudy Herring , which I had the great honor of illustrating. A good portion of my income for the last several years has been derived from these spring and summer shows.
That is why I need your help.
It won’t cost you anything, just a moment of your time. (Unless you want to get one of the books for yourself, which I will be happy to accommodate!)
How can you help? Tell your friends and neighbors with kids about the book. Link to the publisher’s web site http://magicalchildbooks.com or visit one of the on-line booksellers. Ask your librarian to purchase the book. Tell your kid’s teachers about the books and the wonderful curriculum based teaching guides on the publisher’s web site. Just help me spread the word.
With your help, I will be able to generate enough income to pay off some of the medical bills that are starting to clog my mailbox. Even with insurance the $$ are mounting. Thank you so much!!!
I’ve been interviewed by a fellow Blueboarder. Authors on the Rise series: interview is posted here: http://www.karenkincy.com/?p=331 and here: http://ravelda.livejournal.com/333077.html. Feel free to spread the news and link away. Comments welcome.
